Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Network Connectivity I have owned quite a few Brother printers and I needed to upgrade my 9970CDW so I bought this one. I have had the last 4 Brother printers directly connected to my network router via an Ethernet cable, no problem with any of those regarding use as a network printer. This one in the same setup with the latest drivers/firmware (and calls to Brother Tech Support), does not work well as a network printer. It requires multiple Network Resets a day from the tools menu. It's not my setup it's the new Brother printers, because I have seen this with another new model of printer from Brother (I will review that one separately). I even reconnected an older Brother printer and to the setup and it worked as expected, to eliminate the possibility of a setup error. I don't know why the design process went backwards, but the fact of the matter is that it is functionally useless as a network printer when someone has to go to it nearly every time they want print something and engage the Network Reset. I will not be considering Brother in the future for my Network Printers based on this printer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dumbfounded This all-in-one was everything I expected and it performed as advertised. I was thrilled about my purchase until I needed to print an envelope. I was stunned to learn that, in order to print an envelope (or stamps or anything other than 81/2 x 11 paper), my secretary has to lift the 54 lb. printer up, move it away from the wall and turn it around, open up the back, press down on two levers, and insert an envelope. This was a deal killer and I am returning the machine for a refund. I'm sure Brother discloses this information somewhere and I should have read it. It just never occurred to me that anyone would build a printer that required the user to do this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My First Laser Printer The thing I really like about this printer is the duplex printing and simplicity of functions via the touch screen. Everything I need is there on the screen without having to coordinate computer software settings with the printer settings. Copies and scanning are a breeze now. As this is my first experience with a personally owned laser printer, I can now see that the increased cost of toner cartridges will be offset easily by the number of prints when compared to a ink jet printer. This laser cost of operation will be less that an ink jet in the long run. Additionally, there is no worry about the ink drying up or having to remove, clean and reinstall an ink cartridge(s) when the printer is not used for several days. Another significant consideration is that the laser prints are resistant to smudging and a highlighter will not blur the print. Thus far (two months) I'm VERY happy with my choice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ink is too expensive The ink doesn't last long enough and it cost too much. The printer is slow.
